 The BTLGGR Cask Strength Oat Whiskey from Dove Tail really caught me by surprise. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from an Oat whiskey. From what I know this whiskey is made from double distilled Oat Whiskey. Aged in 15-gallon barrels. I don’t know the age statement on this whiskey but I do know I really enjoyed this whiskey. It had a great nose - reminiscent of Honey, Cinnamon, Vanilla and oak. On the first sip I got notes of Vanilla, Baking spices - like cinnamon and a. It of oak along with a touch of sweet heat as I Kentucky Chewed this Nevada Whiskey.....As the whiskey sat in the glass, the flavors melded even more into a vanilla, dark chocolate and hot caramel. I would say it was almost like an adult candy bar at times when I sipped it. 

 Yes, you read that right Oat Whiskey. I recently had the chance to learn about Dovetail Distillery from its founder and master distiller, Nicholas Cataldo. Nicholas has an incredible story that makes him just as special as the whiskey he creates. What’s really unique about Dovetail Whiskey is its mash bill, which is inspired by the delicious oatmeal-raisin cookies his mom bakes for him every year on his birthday and at Christmas!
